This collection consists of a letter from Thomas Cooper to his daughter, Emily Branham, dated 1832. In the letter, Cooper encourages Emily to visit him in Eatonton, as well as to consider moving there permanently. He discusses the availability of lots and the current real estate prices. Cooper believe Columbus to be an unhealthy environment. Cooper informs Emily on the health and activities of friends and family.

Thomas Cooper (1771-1843) was born in Henry County, Virginia, the son of Captain Thomas and Sarah Anthony Cooper. He married Judith Harvey in Hancock County, Georgia, in 1797. In 1805, Cooper moved to Putnam County, Georgia. He died on July 5, 1843 and was buried in the Old Union Church Cemetery in Eatonton, Georgia.
