Orders prohibiting sales, 1939-1960.

Collection consists of files from the Wisconsin Department of Securities on various companies being prohibited from selling stock in the state between 1939 and 1960. A vast majority of the orders prohibit oil and energy companies from selling stock in Wisconsin. However, there are a few exceptions, notably an investigation into W.M. Culp of the First National Savings Foundation. Companies in this collection largely originate from Canada, with some from New York and Texas as well. Files generally consist of the order prohibiting sale of a company's stock, correspondence between the company and Department of Securities, correspondence from stockholders, and occasionally promotional material of the company.
