Included are an undated carbon copy of a narrative of a member of the Nashville Branch of the Ku Klux Klan relating the circumstances of detective Captain Barmore's death in 1867; an advertisement for a Klan picnic, 17 Aug. 1924, near Weddlesville (Ind.) School; a 10 Feb. 1925 letter from "The New Kligrapp" to Russell Bryant of Danville, Ky. stating that the Boyle County Klan has been chartered since 1924 and encourages regular attendance at meetings and immediate payment of dues; and a 30 June 1927 membership card issued to Edward Huckleberry of Jeffersonville, Ind., with instructions providing information regarding "Secret Work" and "The Tests" that Klan members should know.

The Ku Klux Klan was formally incorporated under the laws of the state of Georgia on Dec. 4, 1915. The incorporated organization is a continuance of the earlier post Civil War Reconstruction Era unincorporated Ku Klux Klan and of the Knights of the White Camellia. Women of the Ku Klux Klan was incorporated at a late date as a separate entity.
