Civil War discharge certificate, 1865.

1865

The folder contains George Taylor's army discharge paper dated June 29, 1865. It indicates that Taylor, born in Middlebury, was 17 years old when he enlisted and had been a baker. On the back of an envelop dated August 12, 1905 which was included with the discharge, Taylor wrote a message to his wife, stating that if anything happened to him, she should apply for his pension. There is also a scrap of paper with a short sketch of the military career of Howard G. Taylor, born August, 1885 and killed May 2, 1918 while in Company C, 109 Infantry, First Regiment, National Guard of Pennsylvania.
