Mary V. Maguire was born in 1918 in Providence, RI. She graduated from Trinity College, Washington, D.C. in 1940 and joined the Navy in 1943. She attended the U.S. Naval Midshipmen's School, Northampton, MA and was assigned to the Headquarters, Eastern Sea Frontier, New York City and Eleventh Naval District, San Diego, CA.
