Autograph letter signed from George Jones, British and Foreign Institute, London, to [W.T.?] Porter [manuscript], 1845 January 7.

Sends a copy of his last new volume. In a postscript, he adds that he has not appeared on the British stage since 1836, when he played Hamlet at Drury Lane. He insists that "these days are past with me," indicating that he is focusing on "Historical pursuits" and literature. Letter marked "private."
