Leo Tyler papers, 1905-1911.

The Leo Tyler Papers consist of 21 letters (49 pages) written by N.L. (Leo) Tyler to his father, and four photographs. Nine of the letters were written from Seward, Cordova, and Quartz Creek, Alaska, and twelve from Washington State and Oregon. In them, Tyler describes the growth of Seward and Cordova, his work as secretary and timekeeper for the Alaska Central Railway Company out of Seward, his life in the wilderness, his desire to own his own business, his work as timber inspector and axman for the Copper River and Northwestern Railway Company out of Cordova, and his time as a store clerk and fledgling entrepreneur in Cordova.
