Coleman discusses his education at Whitewater Normal School in Wisconsin and his 1916-1963 career as director of the La Crosse Vocational School, renamed the Coleman Technical Institute in 1965 and Western Wisconsin Technical College in 1989. He describes his philosophy of vocational education, the evolution of vocational education, and former colleagues and students. He also discusses his involvement in civic activities in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
