El Camino Real archive [graphic]. ca. 1900-ca. 1920.

Scrapbook of newsclippings (ca. 1904-1911) and some correspondence about the creation of the state highway along El Camino Real, linking the California missions. Lantern slides of El Camino Real, missions before and after restoration, and of related prints and documents. Related views include adobes, the Stillwell Hotel (Los Angeles) and historic sites of Spanish California. Glass negatives are chiefly copies of plans and prints related to the missions. Also includes composite lantern slides by F.H. Maude which exhibit humorous "trick" photography such as a spirit photograph, a man dining with himself, and carving his own head at the table.

16 boxes (ca. 174 glass slides and ca. 15 glass negatives), 1 scrapbook (newsclippings), 1 bell souvenir, 1 printed book : many slides hand colored.
