Antiquarian Samuel Meyrick was born into a wealthy family, graduated from Oxford, and worked as an advocate. He had an abiding interest in history, and published numerous articles on the subject, as well as writing several books and editing several others. He collected armor, eventually building a famous collection, and designed a mansion with special rooms to display his collection.
