The collection consists of materials created by or related to Miriam Snow Mathes, Western Washington University librarian, educator, and benefactor. It includes biographical material; drafts and typescripts of autobiographical writings and travel accounts; materials related to her gift to the University of the Mathes Reading Figurines Collection; copies of documents concerning her relationship with the Western Washington University Foundation; materials related to the Nahbi Ram Joshi Scholarship she established at the University; and correspondence relating primarily to the foregoing matters. Much of the material is in the form of photocopies.
