J. Stuart tells Anna that the Film The battle Cry Of Peace is completed and will be shown at the Vitagrph Theatre and hoping that Edwin will be back for the opening. They want to get started on picturization of The man with the Hoe.

California poet. Raised near Vacaville, became a schoolteacher in Coloma and later in Oakland. Became famous overnight with publication of "The Man with a Hoe," his protest against brutalization of labor, in "San Francisco Examiner" (January 15, 1899). Following this success Markham moved to New York where he scored another triumph with "Lincoln and Other Poems" (1901).
