Blue family papers, 1913-1940, 1982-1984.

Primarily letters among various members of the Blue family, 1913-1934. Included are a series of letters from John Wilmer Blue about military life in Siberia, where he was serving with the American Expeditionary Forces during World War I, and other letters he wrote to his mother prior to his death in 1934 as a result of a accident while playing polo; several letters from John Wilmer Blue's sister, Jean Blue, to various family members while she served as an army nurse in Coblenz, Germany, in 1919; and letters offering condolence after the death of another sister, Flora Blue, in the influenza epidemic of 1919. There are also photographs of various members of the Blue family, primarily John Wilmer Blue; official documents relating to John Wilmer Blue's military career; news clippings about members of the Blue and related McFadyen families; letters addressed to Carol Melton from acquaintances of John Wilmer Blue that were written in response to her inquiries about him, 1982-1984; and John Wilmer Blue's 1915 Roanoke College annual.
