This record group consists of general records of the Monroe County Social Services Dept. relating to the Civilian Conservation Corps for the years 1934-1943. The records consist of applications for enrollment; letters in and carbons of letters out; memoranda; reports relating to enrollments; discharges; and eligibility to work in the C.C.C. and the emergency conservation work. The forms provide applicant's name; address; age; education; employment record; previous C.C.C. work (if any); allotment or pay from monthly cash allowance to be made to dependent relatives; and certificate of acceptance. The records also include certificates of acceptance; notices of absence; nearprint directives outlining procedures and policy for the C.C.C., Works Progress Administration and Federal Surplus Commodities programs.
