Markham is explaining that he use to hold the mortgage on the property of Edgar W. Robinson along with the insurance policy. This letter states now that Edgar has full claim. Letter is signed both by Edwin and Anna.

California poet. Raised near Vacaville, became a schoolteacher in Coloma and later in Oakland. Became famous overnight with publication of "The Man with a Hoe," his protest against brutalization of labor, in "San Francisco Examiner" (January 15, 1899). Following this success Markham moved to New York where he scored another triumph with "Lincoln and Other Poems" (1901).
