Born in Chihuahua and educated there and in Mexico City, Terrazas early in life dedicated himself to a journalistic career. He founded and edited, for the Bishop of Chihuahua, Dr. Jesús J. Ortiz, the Revista Católica, a weekly, 1896-1901. He also founded a monthly literary review, la Lira Chihuahuense, in 1896 which continued until 1901.
