Organized into eight series: Personal Papers, Family Papers, Italian-American Societies & Organizations, Connecticut/Hartford General Organizations, Historical Documents, Italian-American Culture, "Our Roots" Project, and Research Material. Personal papers include school records, correspondence (some written in Italian), and personal effects. The family papers include correspondence, prayer cards, sympathy letters, and immigration documents. These papers are arranged by family member. The general organizations Capobianco participated in include the Commission on Cultural Affairs and the Thalassemia Foundation of Greater Hartford. Historical documents were collected by Capobianco from immigrant families in Hartford. Of particular note are scrapbooks, postcards and other correspondence, and military and medical documents of the Martino family, including Antoinette, Frances, and Torquato. Other documents include death certificates, deeds, passports, and wedding invitations. Among the Italian-American Culture materials are fliers and pamphlets for various festivals, celebrations, concerts, and restaurants; political papers of Dominick DeLucco, the first Italian-American mayor of Hartford; and publications in Italian or for the Italian community, including the Connecticut Italian Bulletin and Review, Instituto Italiano di Cultura, the Italian American Journal, Italian Americana, and La Voce, for which Capobianco served as editor. Also among these cultural materials are dedication programs for various churches, church bulletins, prayer cards, drawings and paintings, scapulars, documents relating to Padre Pio, and other documents. Capobianco contributed to the "Our Roots" program, a project out of the University of Connecticut to develop a curriculum about immigrants and ethnic communities, and ten chapters of his work on Italian Americans are part of this collection. The final series consists of Capobianco's notes and research material, including interviews with Italian-Americans, notes from Hartford newspapers and city directories and newspaper clippings.
