An assorted variety of documents, the majority from New Haven and the surrounding area. Includes estate distributions, land surveys, deeds, and indentures. Some of the familiar names include Starr, Hotchkiss, and Punderson. Several were signed by William J. Whiting, clerk in New Haven. Other unique documents include a letter from Lauren Campbell to his wife, Caroline as he was preparing to return to Connecticut from California, a memorial to English writer and politician Eustace Budgell, a draft of an agreement for the button factory owned by A. Benedict in Waterbury (ca. 1823), an 1821 estimate of the number of poor in Chatham (East Hampton), Connecticut, the 1815 sale of a church pew by the United Society of New Haven, Connecticut, the appointment of Adoniram Minor as 1st Lieutenant by Governor Oliver Wolcott, and a claim against the Kingdom of Naples.
