Primarily short stories, essays, plays and poems written by a Winsted, Connecticut, author and outdoors man. Collection includes examinations from his years at Yale, correspondence, bills while he was a student at Phillips Andover Academy, memorabilia from a trip to France, letters to Elizabeth Crowder of Virginia whom he married about 1940, rejection letters from publishers, and printed material including concert programs for the Hartford and Boston Symphonies, the Rockefeller Center Choristers, Horace Bushnell Memorial Hall, and the Gordon Musical Association, fliers and programs from meetings of several outdoor writers associations, and a report of the Connecticut State Board of Fisheries and Game, of which he was a member, 1936-1942. Also includes correspondence to George Dudley Vaill, Jr. and to Mrs. George Dudley Vaill, Sr., and miscellaneous items, including a workbook of Dudley Vaill.
