Harriet discusses Mr. M's poem being read at her wedding and that it was a crowning joy. She would like to have it published in next sundays World Magazine. She loves Mrs. M. Refers to breakfast given at the home of Mr. Krunbhaais? and godmother Mrs. Charles F. Hoffman and a poem was read by David Bispham. Also refers to The Immediate family Caners? and Mrs. Janus of the catherdral and David Bispham and four ushers i believe were at the wedding. Discusses her husband and meeting the Markkhams.

California poet. Raised near Vacaville, became a schoolteacher in Coloma and later in Oakland. Became famous overnight with publication of "The Man with a Hoe," his protest against brutalization of labor, in "San Francisco Examiner" (January 15, 1899). Following this success Markham moved to New York where he scored another triumph with "Lincoln and Other Poems" (1901). He became a well-known reader of his own poems and lecturer of idealistic views, but his creative output for remainder of life ...
