Correspondence with Anna Stillwell Tucker, 1840-1851.

Correspondence between Baptist minister George Everett Tucker of Canton and Pittsfield, Mass. and his future wife Anna Stillwell (Tucker) of Providence, R.I. The bulk of the correspondence, 1840-46, was written while George traveled in Illinois, Ohio, Penn., and Va., first on personal business and later for the American and Foreign Bible Society. His letters describe traveling on the Ohio River, and include some courtship letters. Anna's describe life in Providence and her religious ideals. George became the principal of a school in Pittsfield, 1846, and the bulk of the correspondence from 1846-51, was sent between Anna in Pittsfield (after her marriage) and the Stilwell family in Providence, primarily relating to the health of various family members.
