German manuscript lieder book, without music, from early nineteenth century used in the Zoar Society of Separatists community in Ohio has table of contents for 45 hymns. Written in pencil below the last hymn is "Frank Ackerman, Zoar." Most of the hymns suggest pietist origin and are not found in the hymnals of the Lutheran or Reformed churches. Many hymns found in this hymnal are also found in copies of Sammlung auserlesener geistlicher Lieder, printed in Zoar in 1855 and in 1967.
