Typewritten transcriptions of correspondence between George Ticknor of Boston, Mass., and Prince John (later King) of Saxony, 1837-71. Correspondence discusses political events in Europe, including various wars; and personal subjects such as their friendship, death of family members, literary pursuits, and Ticknor's translation of various texts. Collection also includes some correspondence between King John and George Ticknor's wife Anna, following George's death in 1871. Location of the original letters is unknown.
