S.R. Rackoff was born in Connellsville, Pa., the son of Russian immigrants. He graduated from Wharton School in 1943 and became an officer in the U.S. Navy. After leaving the Navy, he joined American Shearing Knife Company (ASKO, Inc.) in Homestead, Pa., where he served as president and then chairman until his death in 1996. From the description of S.R.
