Excelsior album, 1855-1859.

A friendship album with poems dedicated to Annie or Anna Taylor, all signed with initials or first name only. Some inscriptions include calligraphic drawings, mostly of birds. As well, the volume includes engravings, most of which were by John Sartain. A group of unsigned Valentines and one card in the shape of a cross, perhaps for Easter, came with the album. Most of the Valentines are made from doilies and scrap, but a couple are simple, albeit colored, printed images.

1 v. (most pages blank) and 19 items : ill. ; 24 cm. or smaller.
