Papers of merchant and justice of the peace Samuel P. Savage (1718-1797) of Boston and Weston, Mass., 1737-1791 include personal papers such as correspondence discussing his mother, Faith Russell's, family estate, 1737, and correspondence to his first wife Sarah (Tyler) Savage, 1747; business papers such as insurance for cargo in the West Indies, a receipt book kept between 1762-66 containing accounts with other merchants; documents signed by Savage in his position as chairman of the Massachusetts Board of War during the Revolutionary War, which include a loan request from general William Heath for clothing, and reports of French involvement during the war, 1777; and legal documents signed by Savage in his role of justice of the peace in Middlesex County, 1787. Collection also includes Savage family papers such as legal and estate documents, 1694-1753.
