The collection includes two projection prints of a color, sound 16 mm. film produced by the Scripps Institution of Oceanography Marine Life Research Group around 1970. The film was presented by John D. Isaacs, written by Richard Shutts and Richard Schwartzlose, edited by Richard Shutts and Rex Smith III. The film describes the "Monster Camera" project at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in 1970. The "Monster Camera" project was sponsored by the National Science Foundation. SIO oceanographer John D. Isaacs and his Marine Life Research Group placed a bait source, camera and light at various depths between 200-3700 meters in the ocean and filmed the benthic life that was attracted by the bait. The underwater cine camera system was designed by Meredith Sessions and Richard Shutts. This film was made from the best footage that was produced during the course of the project.
