Contains records of the Cabinet, Lolo, and Missoula National Forests. Comprised mainly of inter-departmental memorandum, includes also reports, maps, photographs, charts, and notes. There is material relating to the establishment of and adjustments to the boundaries of the forests (1909-1954); historical sites, including the Indian post office (1940, 1955); origins of local place names; Forest Service employees serving in the armed forces during the Second World War (1942-1945); the large ponderosa pine tree at Fish Creek (1966-1969, 1975); and flood control on the St. Regis River (1936-1938).
