Lillian Gray Porter papers, 1902-1956.

The collection is divided into two series. Series 1 contains information about Lillian's jobs, such as with the Savannah District Corps of Engineers and the United States Veterans Administration (Box 2). Also, the series includes work related and personal correspondence from friends and World War II soldiers (Box 1, Folder 1). Within Box 1, Folder 1, there is a stamp size photograph of a World War II soldier. Lastly, the collection contains information about charities. which Lillian organized, such as the United Community Appeal, the March of Dimes, and the Red Cross. (cont.) Series 2 contains information regarding George A. Porter. Within the series, there is work related correspondence from the Central of Georgia Railway Co., and personal correspondence from friends and World War II soldiers.

The Central Rail Road and Canal Company was organized in 1833 by a group of Savannah businessmen. In 1835, its name changed to Central Rail Road and Banking Company of Georgia.
