Research, by Moellentin, on the Chamberlain house at 350 North Main Street, Brewer, Me., the birthplace of Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain, including photocopies of deeds, maps, and correspondence between Joshua L. Chamberlain and Fanny Hardy Eckstorm. The deeds date back to when Col. Joshua Chamberlain, grandfather of Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain, bought the land. The letters from Joshua L. Chamberlain to Eckstorm state that he was born in this house. Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain, born in Brewer, was a U.S. Army officer, the governor of Maine (1867-1871), and president of Bowdoin College.
