[Letters, 1787-1812] / Caleb Strong.

[Letter] 1787 May 7, Northampton [to] Benjamin Lincoln. Strong writes to Lincoln to solicit help for the release of Timothy Hinds, who had been pardoned but not released from prison, as a result of his activities in Shays' Rebellion. -- [Letter] 1812 Jun. 30 [to] Sir. This letter to an unknown individual was written when Strong was governor of Massachusetts and refused to call up the Massachusetts Militia to serve in the War of 1812.

Strong was a native of Northampton, Mass. He served as governor of Massachusetts (1800-1807 and 1812-1816). Strong assisted in writing the Constitution of Massachusetts and was a member of the U. S.
