104 autograph letters and postcards, signed to Lady Victoria Sackville-West from Vita Sackville-West and Lionel Sackville West, and one a.l.s. from Lady Victoria to Vita Sackville-West.

105 autograph letters and postcards signed sent to Lady Victoria Sackville-West from her daughter, Vita Sackville-West, from her husband, Lionel Sackville-West, and one letter from Lady Victoria Sackville-West to Vita Sackville-West. All but two of the letters written by Vita Sackville-West to her mother were written when she was between the ages of 17 and 20 and traveling on the Continent in 1909-1912. Of the remaining two letters, the first was penned when Sackville-West was a child, and the final letter was written in 1921, when she and her husband Harold Nicolson were traveling to Austria. There are two significant gaps in the correspondence: July 1909 - June 1911, and mid-June- mid-October 1912. Presumably Sackville-West was with her mother during these times. Also present are two letters that Sackville-West wrote to her father, Lionel, in 1909 and in 1912, and one letter each from Sackville-West's parents to her (in his letter, Lionel addresses Sackville-West as "Vitalet"). The letters reflect their composition during the romantic period of Sackville-West's life, an important episode of which was her tour of Europe. Dozens of the letters refer to Rosamund Grosvenor, an early romantic interest with whom she traveled. By the autumn of 1912, however, her affections had shifted to Harold Nicholson. Included here are two letters and a post office telegraph from him. Harold and Vita married in 1913. Four of the eight letters from Lionel Sackville to his wife, Lady Victoria Sackville were written between May and September 1909; the final four are dated March through November 1912.
