Deposition, 1816 July 29.

"True copy" of a deposition of John Dougherty, taken by Justice of the Peace Robert King in Gallatin County, Kentucky, for the trial of John Howard vs. Samuel Todd concerning land title. He related details of a 1780 expedition with Capt. James Allison, Colonel William Linn and General Clarke from Louisville up the Ohio River, encamping at the "Big Spring" and at the mouth of the Kentucky River. The expedition of 100-130 men took the Shawnee towns of Pickaway and Chillicothe in Ohio.
