John W. Aldridge (1922-2007) was a noted literary critic, author, and professor of English at the University of Michigan. A World War II veteran, Aldridge was director of the Hopwood Program and served as a special ambassador to Germany through the United States Information Agency (USIA) in 1972-1973.
