John Winslow military papers, 1734-1774.

Military papers kept by John Winslow, who served as Capt., Lt. Col., and Gen. in the British Colonial army, 1734-1774. Includes documents related to Winslow's expedition to the West Indies, 1734-44; accounts of Gen. Phillip's British regiments, 1744-1748; documents related to Winslow's expedition for the expulsion of the Acadians from Nova Scotia, 1755, under William Shirley's command; correspondence and documents from Winslow's tenure in the French and Indian War, 1755-1763; list of soldiers on board the sloop Industry in 1772; and receipts for goods purchased, clothing received, and soldiers pay and provisions; rolls and lists of dead, wounded and sick; and weekly returns. Collection also includes a list of supplies purchased for the schooner Three Friends, 1745, an insurance policy for goods on board the frigate Arthur, 1750, correspondence received from military personnel and family members, and documents related to Kenelm and Pehlam Winslow. Also includes transcribed records from the State House relating to John Winslow.
