Include correspondence, 1900-1941, of D. Wiley Anderson, architect and inventor, of Richmond and Scottsville, Va. Correspondents include James L. Skidmore (of Washington, D.C., patent lawyer), George R. Kirkham of Richmond, Va. (and, after his death in 1927, with his executor), J. M. Dozier (of Newport Contracting and Engineering Company, Newport News, Va.), and E. A. Stumpf (of Southside Brick Works, Inc., Richmond, Va.). Correspondence chiefly concerns patents and sales for Anderson's various inventions, including the "Combined Reversible Duplex Brick or Block for Tying and Building Hollow or Ventilated Walls". Also included is correspondence concerning Anderson's solicitation for investments in Albevanna Springs Hotel-Sanatarium, Health and Pleasure Resort, Albemarle and Fluvanna counties, Va. Also include financial and legal papers, consisting of accounts, 1891-1937 (chiefly concerning the payment of property taxes in Fluvanna County, Va., and the repayment of loans), deeds and land titles, 1888-1890 (for property in Richmond, Va.), copies of patents, 1939 (for the Combined Reversible Duplex Brick or Block), and miscellaneous legal documents, 1919-1939 (including agreements, certificate of incorporation, proxy statements, etc.). Also include materials concerning the design and marketing of Multifix Flashing Brick. Also include drawings and blueprints, 1900-1934, of D. Wiley Anderson for residential and commercial buildings. Residential clients include L. J. Cheatwood (of Richmond, Va.), Dr. Frank V. Fowlkes (of Nottoway County, Va.), J. L. Ingersoll (of Richmond, Va.), Dr. Fox H. Gilbert Leigh (of Petersburg, Va.), Col. Eugene C. Massie (of "Copeley," Charlottesville, Va.), J. L. Pitts and W. E. Moon (of Scottsville, Va.), L. F. Powell (of Henrico County, Va.), and W. H. Schwarzchild. Commercial properties include a hotel and the town assembly hall in Scottsville, Va., and the Crystal Ice and Power Company, Danville, Va. Also include blueprints for various of Anderson's inventions, including an auto-thermostat, windows, Multifix Brick, and Combined Face Brick and Backing Block, and maps of Albevanna Springs, Albemarle and Fluvanna counties, Va., including drawings for a planned hotel and sanitarium. Printed materials and miscellany include copies of Anderson's "A Few Recent Designs" and "Short Reviews of a few Recent Designs" and scattered materials relating to the Albevanna Springs (consisting of advertisements for Albevanna water, label from a bottle of Albevanna Ponce de Leon Water, a postcard of the spring house, and a newspaper clipping giving a brief history of the spring; and two account books [incomplete] for sales of spring water, ca. 1913-1923 and ca. 1933).
