Thomas Harrison correspondence [manuscript], 1716-1757.

The collection consists of letters from Thomas Harrison of Kent, England, to family, co-religionists, and his future wife. Two of the letters are written from Ward's Creek, Prince George County, James River, where he has moved as a dissenting preacher. Topics include suffering from fever in Virginia and inadvisability of his future wife coming to Virginia, errors of the Church of England in regards to baptism, wayward behavior of John Mott, the conversion of Thomas Benge Burr and William Foley and their reception into the chuch, and the imparting of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. A letter from John Harrison to his uncle Thomas Harrison discusses the importance of keeping the Sabbath.
