Ledger of A. R. Micou [manuscript], 1872-1877.

Micou's ledger contains accounts for the Tidewater Index, particulary with advertisers. The ledger provide a glimpse of the life of the Tappahannock community in the 1870s through advertisements and notices entered for the newly founded Aberdeen Academy, an ice cream festival, real estate sales, railroads, insurance legal services and notices and the sale of pictures of the death-bed of Stonewall Jackson. The ledger also contains some surveying bills, 1873-1877, and entries for job printing of posters, handbills, programs, etc. Noted individuals who had accounts with Micou include R. L. T. Beale, Elliott M. Braxton, William Brockenbrough, James C. Councill, John Critcherer, Thomas Croxton, Thomas F. Goode, William B. Matthews, Judith P. McGuire, Robert L. Montague, and John A. Parker.
