The Papers of Max Abelman, 193?-195? 194?-195?

The Max Abelman Papers contains personal memorabilia highlighting both his private family life, and public philanthropic achievements. The first box consists of photographs and negatives of family and friends, social events, as well as miscellaneous photos/negatives that are unidentifiable.There are images of the Abelman family at leisure, trips to the beach, and of his wife, son and grandchildren. Also included are various notables and dignitaries. They date from the turn of the century to the mid-1950s. Box 2 contains various 8'' x 10'', black and white photographs of Governor Thomas E. Dewey at the Jewish Hospital of Brooklyn as well as some photo albums. The albums contain photos of a dinner for Reverend Thomas E. Molloy, Abelman with various celebrities and dignitaries, and a reception for Max Abelman, presented by the University of Manilla. Box 3 consists primarily of artifacts, photographs and stamps. Some of these include unidentified photographic copper plates, stamps, a newspaper clipping, and a Max Abelman reference book. Box 4 contains materials of Abelman's various events that he attended. These include a Brooklyn Academy of Music program, an autographs book from Abelman's 70th birthday, a Max Abelman reference book, and a wedding remembrance of M.A. Abbey and Arman Takatyan amongst other events. Box 5 consists of a scrapbook from the "Save the Brooklyn Academy of Music Campaign Gala-Concert" on October 22, 1935, with correspondences, lists, bills, programs and photographs of the events featuring various celebrities and political dignitaries.
