Autograph letter signed from Stephen Price, London, to Ellen Tree [manuscript], 1837 May 9.

Price describes the dire financial situation of the London theaters and tells Tree that she is "perfectly right" in deciding to remain in America another year: "there is no inducement to return here and as bad as matters were before you left, they are daily growing worse." London theaters mention in passing include Drury Lane, Covent Garden, Princess's, and Haymarket. Also refers to a number of actors: Macready, Vandehoff, Knowles, Helen Faucit, Vestris.
