Autograph letters signed from A.C. Swinburne, Henley-on-Thames and West Malvern, to Theodore Watts-Dunton, London [manuscript], 1875-1879.

Letters all addressed "My dear Watts." Most letters make at least passing reference to Swinburne's Study of Shakespeare. (1), written from Holmwood, also mentions coming essays on Elizabethans for the Encyclopedia Britannica. (3) discusses Swinburne's Bothwell. (4), which Swinburne warns is a "most egoistically Shakespearean letter," refers to the Psyche of Moliè€re and Corneille and discusses completing his (Swinburne's) "estimate & analysis of Hamlet" which he declares "the best piece of prose as well as the subtlest & most accurate work of thought I ever achieved." Letters written from Holmwood and Ashfield House. Letters accompanied by envelopes addressed to Watts at 2 Danes Inn, Strand, London and Ivy Lodge, Putney.
