Autograph letter signed from Drinkwater Meadows, Theatre Kendal, to R.W. Elliston, London [manuscript], 1817 March 27.

Meadows responds to Elliston's letter which explained that he, Elliston, was unable to offer a "decided line" since he had not seen Meadows perform. Meadows expresses that his desire to be in a larger company "in order to be higher in [his] profession" and that he hopes for an engagement for "second old men with the Frenchmen, Jews and Scotchmen, and any other respectable low comedy business." Signed "H. Drinkwater Meadows." Annotations on fol. 2v, in another hand, reference Richard and Shylock. Addressed to Elliston at Stratford Place, Oxford Road, London.

2 leaves ; 23 x 19 cm.
