Autograph letters signed and other material of Samuel Weller Singer [manuscript], 1852-1858.

(1-5) are autograph letters signed from Singer, Mickleham and South Lambeth, to Charles Whittingham, dated from 1852 to 1858. (1) and (2) concern Singer's work on Shakespeare; (3) and (4) concern the proofs of the Preface to Bacon's essays; (5) discusses the expense of paper and printing 50 copies; (6) Autograph draft of a form of transfer of copyright of Singer's edition of Shakespeare; refers to Charles Symmons and Charles Whittingham; (7) a manuscript copy of a review entitled: What does Shakespeare mean by Fancy-free? Includes a quotation from Midsummer night's dream: "Quench'd in the chaste beams of the watery moon / and the imperial vot'ress passed on / In maiden meditation, fancy-free." Literary History III, 315 sq, Ed. 120, 1855" appears at the end of the review.
