Photographs of Donal Hord and his work, 1955-1966.

Eleven 8 x 10 b&w photographs, of which 10 were taken by Helen Ellsberg and one by Homer Dana, Hord's assistant. Eight of the photographs document the making of the mold for one of the bas-reliefs Hord installed outside the San Diego Public Library. The other three photographs are of Hord working on a figure installed in the Civic Center, of Hord working on a figure titled "Morning," and of Hord's wife Florence.

Born at Topeka, Kansas on January 1, 1890, Homer Dana came to the State of Washington with his parents in the early years of the 20th Century. His family homesteaded in central Washington for a time, then moved to the city of Pullman in 1911, where Dana entered the State College of Washington (now Washington State University). Several of his works are installed at San Diego sites, including the Civic Center, the Public Library, the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and a few high schools.
