The collection includes a handwritten card, letter and signed portrait from Edward Weston to Dr. Phillip Lovell, two typescript letters from Pauline G. Schindler to the doctor's wife, Leah Lovell, a postcard from Dr. Lovell to his daughter Mary, other Lovell family correspondence, and an artist portrait to Dr. Lovell and his family from Charles James.

Edward Weston, (American, 1886-1958), was born in Highland Park, Illinois and from an early age was involved with photography. He studied at the Illinois College of Photography in 1908, afterwards moving to Los Angeles to work for a commercial portrait studio and eventually starting his own.
