Papers of Lyman H. Butterfield, long-time editor of the Adams Papers at the Massachusetts Historical Society. The collection includes notes and files relating to his historical editing project on the correspondence of Benjamin Rush and other research subjects, and correspondence regarding his professional activities and interactions with other editors. Materials in this collection document his participation in the National Historical Publications Commission and other organizations promoting the preservation and use of historical documentary sources.
