Hilla Sheriff research files, 1974-1991.

Research files, 1974-1991, added to the Hilla Sheriff papers; these materials collected by Julia Lumpkin for two documentaries on the career of Hilla Sheriff, a female physician and public health administrator who practiced in Spartanburg and Greenville Counties, as well as in Columbia, Charleston, and elsewhere in South Carolina during the second and third quarters of the 20th century. Materials consist of notes and two completed documentaries: "Carrying Health to the Country" (4 copies on DVD, 1 on videotape) and "Delivered with Love" (1 copy on DVD); Research files (18 May 1987-1 Nov 1988); Scripts (Jan. - Feb. 1988); Transcriptions (undated); Newspaper clippings (1974-16 Feb. 1986); Maternal and child health (Jan 1974-1988); Brochures, programs (Mar 1988-May 1991) These materials were gathered by Julia Lumpkin of the South Carolina Dept. of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) for two documentaries; the program, "Carrying Health to the Country," aired on SCETV during March 1988. A videotape and four DVDs of the documentary are included. A DVD of a documentary on midwifery, "Delivered with Love," produced by DHEC with funds from the Midwife Fund started by Dr. Sheriff, is also included.
