The collection consists of one letter dated 10 February 1855 by D. Dickson of Covington, GA. The letter is addressed to D. C. Barrow of Lexington, GA, requesting payment for five bushels of cottonseed. Also included in the collection is a photocopy of a broadside advertising, "Boyd's Extra Prolific Cotton, introduced by D. Dickson." The original broadside is located in the Hargrett Library's broadside collection.

David Crenshaw Barrow Sr. (1815-1899), planter, resided in Oglethorpe County and Athens, Georgia. He married Sarah Pope (d. 1855), daughter of Middleton Pope.
