Mildren Weston was a Spokane poet who was published in journals like "Northwest Review" and "Prairie Schooner". Her collection of poems were published in a work entitled, "The Green Dusk", (Owl Press). Miss Weston taught at Holy Names College for 17 years and retired in 1981. She had a long standing interest in poet Vachel Lindsay, and published a biographical work about him in 1987 through Ye Galleon Press. Nicholas Vachel Lindsay was born in Springfield, IL. He studied in Ohio, Chicago, and New York and acquired a reputation as a poet and lecturer. Lindsay became famous for his walk from Springfield, IL to New Mexico in 1912, and for an unusual method of writing poetry. In 1924 he arrived in Spokane where he worked as a columnist for the "Spokesman-Review". He returned to Springfield in 1929, and at the time of his death was a major figure in American poetry.
