This collection consists of a 50 page photo album that contains oil-tinted photos of architectural details of several of the fair buildings and includes record shots of sculptures created for exhibition at the fair. Very few photos include people visiting the buildings or viewing the sculptures. Also included is a copy of an informative June, 1993 Smithsonian magazine article, "The Great Chicago Fair, a Wonder of Wonders", by Phil Patton, and "Chicago's White City of 1893", by David F. Burg, gives further information about the fair.

The Chicago World's Columbian Exposition is considered to be a major event in defining American culture at the end of the 19th century. Although none of the buildings were permanent, they were all painted white, hence the name "The White City".
